Spice4U was officially launched back in 2005 by a passionate butcher and sales professional, Dave Sivier. A drive for delicious meat production meant Dave’s early industry beginnings involved mixing delicious herbs and spices in-house, breaking down fresh meat, processing which includes smoked meat and cooked product. At one point Dave was overseeing a staff compliment of more than 100 people, as well as taking on admin duties.

Spice4U breaks the mould of traditional spice distributors, offering a hands-on approach to helping businesses in the food processing and catering industries thrive. The Spice4U brand was established to fill a gap in the KZN market, where they distribute their products to customers in need of quality spices and seasonings.
Dave is the knowledgeable leader of a team, providing customer assistance, sales, and the planning of deliveries. He is joined by his wife and partner, Leysha Sivier, who expertly handles administration and assists with marketing and running promotions. The third member of our Spice4U team is Aslam Shaik, who is the company driver. Geetika Naidoo joined the team in 2024, dealing with admin duties and assisting Dave with customers daily.
The Spice4U sphere of operations currently extends from Durban to Pietermaritzburg (serving all locations south of there), as well as the northern parts of the Eastern Cape. We see our growing brand expand to the point where we can distribute our spices, butchery equipment, catering equipment, and other products to clients across South Africa and Africa.
Our vision is to introduce more people to the versatile Freddy Hirsch range of spices and equipment, and to the range of catering equipment we source directly from manufacturers, and to assist more butchers, caterers, and other food-related businesses with opening new revenue streams.
We have created an e-commerce website for people across south Africa, not just butcheries and restaurants to be able to get these spices, but normal everyday people to have the same access to it.
